According to vnunet.com NEC plans to make a bigger splash in the UK market with their Rack-montable Linear Tape Open Tape Library. The new library boasts up to 8TB native capacity!
A spokes person from NEC estimates that NEC currently has 7% of the global LTO Tape Library market, but has 85% share in Japan.
NEC's new unit will offer 24, 32 and 40 cartridge slots in a 4U-high rack-mount enclosure. A Fibre Channel interface module is an option for storage area network (SAN) deployment, while the library can also be configured to act as a network-attached storage (NAS) unit.
